New School Guidelines Regarding Covid-19 from the Vermont Department of Health and the Vermont Department of Education.

What should I do if my child is a presumptive contact (formerly close contact) of someone who has tested positive for Covid-19?

Your child may continue to attend school.

If your child is unvaccinated:

·         You will receive 5 tests from school. These tests will be sent home with your child. Use these tests every morning before going to school for the next 5 consecutive days after learning of the possible exposure.

·         If they test positive, keep your child home and follow the steps in What to Do if You Test Positive for COVID-19

·         Wear a mask around others for ten days after learning of their possible exposure

If your child is fully vaccinated (2 shots of the COVID-19 vaccine):

·    You may request 2 take home tests from school. These tests will be sent home with your child. Use these tests on the 4th and 5th day after learning of their possible exposure in the morning before school

·         If they test positive,  keep your child home and follow the steps in What to Do if You Test Positive for COVID-19

·         Wear a mask around others for ten days after learning of their exposure

Instructions on how to use the antigen tests can be found on the Health Department testing website. If your child’s test comes back as positive, please report this on the Vermont Department of Health COVID-19 Self-Test Reporting Form.

Monitor your child for symptoms of COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status. If your child has any symptoms of COVID-19, keep them home from school.

Please call Twinfield Union School with any questions or concerns about this situation. Please call the Vermont Department of Health at 802-863-7240 (option 8) if you have questions about COVID-19. More information is available at the Health Department website:  healthvermont.gov/COVID-19.

Notes from Nurse Alice...

Thank you to all the parents of Twinfield students ages 5 to 11 who are sending me copies of their Covid-19 vaccination cards. It is inspiring to see how quickly so many students have been able to get fully vaccinated.

Remember that it takes up to 14 days after receiving a vaccine for it to be fully effective.

16 and 17 year olds can now receive the Pfizer BioNTech Covid-19 booster vaccine. They are eligible for this if it has been 6 months since they received their 2nd Covid-19 vaccine.

Berlin Mall Clinic:

There is a clinic running at the Berlin Mall offering both initial, second and booster vaccines

You do not need an appointment for this clinic.

They are open from 8am until 6pm.

For a complete list of Covid-19 vaccination clinics go here:

https://www.healthvermont.gov/covid-19/vaccine/getting-covid-19-vaccine#clinics

Please know that we are diligently working to keep Twinfield as safe as possible. A big part of our safety protocols involve quarantining.

As always, please contact me if you have any questions.
